“Education is for the mind, what experience is for the soul”

- Casey Neistat

Hello, I’m Ron Jaxon Auer—Ron to family, Jaxon to friends. I was gifted my first video camera in middle school, and that same year, I filmed a school protest that made local news. In high school, I attended a creative arts camp in Brooklyn, where I directed five-person crews for two short films I wrote. These early experiences made me think I may like a career in film. I went on to earn my Bachelor’s of Arts degree in media arts production with a minor in publishing at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Sadly, I did not enjoy my time there due to the competitive and toxic environment. Despite this, I persisted, valuing the education and reputation of the school. Unfortunately, neither would matter much, as by the time I graduated, the world had been struck by a global pandemic, leaving many of us adrift.

To support myself, I worked various jobs—lifeguarding, retail, and food service. While these roles helped me develop important skills like planning and consistency, they didn’t align with the career path I had envisioned. After 18 months I reached a breaking point. Determined not to waste my potential, I began creating again, launching my YouTube channel and documenting my solo trips. That spring, I used savings from my service jobs to fund a trip to Costa Rica. This experience was transformative in many ways—not just for its teachings in community and discovery, but also for solidifying my passion for storytelling and adventure.

Since then, I’ve actively sought out new experiences while honing my craft. I’ve worked with business owners, travelers, weekend warriors, and “Average Joe’s” - all of whom want to share their story and make new ones. Still, my greatest joy has been documenting my own travels, capturing the moments and memories that truly resonate with me. My filmmaking journey hasn’t always been lucrative but it’s pushed me to engage more deeply with the world. This website is a testament of that journey. Happy exploring.
